NEXT MEETING INFORMATION! 1/15/11 From 9 AM to 4 PM.

Post by Logan »

Programming: Paul, Julia, Samir, Malav, Bailey, Nitant, David

* Line follower sensors - If I recall correctly, FIRST will provide for us the line follower code. However, they seem to have not posted the 2011 technical resources yet. Be on the lookout
* Dashboard/GUI - Imagine two 3x3 grids, where each section of a grid corresponds to a post in the same position. Then, our driver can just push a button and the arm will automatically go to that position on the grid. With our knowledge of labview so far, it should be entirely possible to create a dashboard that simulates this grid.

Minibot: Kat, Vikram, Deepan, Scott, Andrew

Discussion/Brainstorming

With the last team update, any idea of using potential energy to launch our minibot is out the window. Unfortunately, we must now do things the legitimate way. We already have a Tetrix kit in the back our storage room. It's currently in the form of an already assembled robot. Dismantle it first and then get to work. It would be nice to have a basic brainstormed idea along with some prototypes by the end of Saturday.

Chassis/Manipulator/Intake: Everybody else/TBD

Chassis/Drivetrain Discussion/Brainstorming

Intake Discussion/Brainstorming

We already have a very nice CADed design for our chassis this year. We will be making precise measurements and cuts based off of the specifications of the CAD. On Saturday, teams of you will measure the 80/20 pieces. The marked pieces will be handed to Mr. Dallas or Mr. Fred, (or any other parent volunteer that has experience with power tools) and will then be cut. These cut pieces will then be assembled with gussets, screws, and plates also according to the specifications of the CAD.

The intake mechanism has also been CADed up. However, it has not been tested yet and will need some prototyping. This team of people will try to determine the optimum position of the intake rollers, etc.

The lifting mechanism is the only part we have not entirely designed or thought of yet. So far, our strongest competitor has been a winch driven telescoping lift. I will try to lead a team in brainstorming and prototyping this lift.

There are some preliminary CADs posted in the lifter thread. There some nice/important suggestions and dimensions in that thread that might be of some help.

Are we coming to school on Saturday?

Also, I'll make some carbon copies of the LabVIEW if anyone needs to install the new program. It takes over an hour to install the environment, so it'll expedite our process...

Of the lifter, sorry. Edited original post.

I know we are talking about using a piston to hold it up, but I don't know how we can get the intake roller to deploy and reach out past the bumper zone.

I believe I'm supposed to be on the programming team, although I'm fine either way.
