Neat Drivetrain

Post by Tanner »

*loves*

It's quiet, works, and I'd have no idea how to build it.

Oh, GSMST is doing this.

It's really not hard to build, or at least figure out *how* it's built.

Oh. That'll be interesting to see how that comes out.

Turning could be interesting and/or building a kicker.

Turning is similar to that of a four wheel drive, hence their four omnis.

GSMST has yet to finalize a kicker. I think that they bought a shifter, and I'm not sure what kind of success they are having with that.

Its basically a 4 omni drivetrain with 2 sets of traction wheels each on a spring suspension. (a little like the idea of attaching springs to Logan's outer wheels). Obviously they believe that they will need to go over the bump frequently, because they must have put a lot of work into that.

If they don't plan to I would. That thing drives like a dream.

The one thing that seems really complex to me is how to chain the darn thing. maybe they use variable chain tensioners.

Actually, not necessary.

Put a 3 sprocket hub on the Point of Pivot of the entire module, and the chain distance never changes.
