2010 FRC bot

I must be missing the spot where discussions about this year's bot are taking place. I just wanted to mention ( before I have a senior moment, i.e. "what was I going to say now ? " ) that I think we should plan on having a rail in a fixed position to give access for our alliance members to latch onto, providing that ( if I am understanding correctly ) Blue can only hang at a blue tower and red only at a red tower. I think having a moving rail to fold out is simply more weight and something else to have to control, as well as something else that could fail. KISS ( Keep It simple, stupid )

This is a good point, but I think it'll depend on our end game position.

If we pull ourselves up, and when we're up, we're in the same orietation as we were when we're on the ground, then the other robots might have trouble in reaching around our bumpers, but of course we could mount the railings under the bumpers.

But on the other hand, if we go up in a fashion that changes our orientation and flips the robot upwards 90 degrees, then it might be a good idea to have the static rails.

I think we haven't focused on the end game too much, yet, so there are still some questions lingering about this.
