The top and bottom only need 90 degrees, right?

The mcmaster links do not do well unless you copy the link that is the actual part itself, not the page of the list.

The bottom one only needs 90, but wouldn't the top one also need 180?

Ok, Try these on for size:

I am not sure how we would even do hanging.

If a bot is hanging from the tower and its bumpers are touching the tower, then it is not a qualified hanging/elevated.

How in the world else would you suspend a 100pound bot from a vertical tower without touching it?

Ok, after further reading

You can touch the tower and be elevated, but you cannot be considered suspended and touch the tower. So we should explore.

so, we have to be hanging at 20' off the ground? Is that correct?

And for how long after the buzzer rings?

I believe the official ruling for "how long" is 10 seconds after the match ends, or until all pieces come to rest. I'm not sure which rule takes priority though. For example, if a ball rolling across the field, but at 11 seconds, it goes into the goal, does it count?

That ball would have to be going pretty fast across the ground to go up the slight bump and through the chains after ten seconds.

I used the ball as an example, not as reality.

The same question can be raised to the video of the hanging robot. Let's say it climbs the full 70", and at second 10, it's sitting a sweet 40" off the ground, but then at second 11, the arm snaps and the robot falls to the ground, giving it a height of 0". What is the ruling on that?

Depends whether or not Jan is in a good mood.

I don't think I've ever seen them wait ten seconds, 'course it just seems like they go onto the field when they can (i.e. stuff stops moving).
