Team 1261

After much prodding through my own history, I found the team that used the torsion springs.

They're using three right there, and later they augment that with surgical tubing to get like 16 more feet, but since 54 feet is the length of the field, they might not wanna augment that.

Since we're getting torsion springs, just a thought to maybe try to power a kicker them.

Sounds pretty neat, though slightly dangerous. If it's simple, we should try it. It wouldn't be much different than the set up we have now right? Just using springs instead of surgical tubing?

DANG IT!!! Well, I'll post it in a minute, I'm not on my computer right now.

Actually, the center of the spring would sit on the axle on which the bar rotates, but the idea is just the same.

It may be irrational, but I have always had a fear of torsion springs. You can't easily just disable them like you can with surgical tubing. You would have to remove the entire kicker to adjust them, too, right?

That's a pretty good kick. I had to watch it twice as I was more interested in how they got it to release so easily in such a light frame.

It looked like it was pretty easy to cock too, which kinda makes me confused in how it gets all that power.

Looks to me like they're using a latch.

And I think because their kicker length is so long, cocking it back is extremely easy simply because of the leverage you can get over it.

Nice, kick, full follow through, way outside the zone, probably a little mass in the foot to help. Manually releasing a kicker is much easier than automation.
