Autonomous

What do we want to do for autonomous?

As far as I know the only rule for autonomous is that we can't cross the little white line down the middle of the field.

So, here's how the match starts:

Beginning of Autonomous

We must place the robot on the RIGHT side from the driver's view. In the far ZONE and in contact with the ALLIANCE STATION WALL and/or ramp. In the MIDFIELD and in contact with the farthest BUMP. In the near ZONE and in contact with the nearest BUMP.

So, what can we do?

Well, we could do vision tracking of the goal/balls, but I think it might be a bit late to figure that out. Maybe.

A kind of dead reckoning way of doing things is moving forward (assuming we're facing the balls) and kicking the balls after x seconds. Simple, but most likely effective in doing SOMETHING for the beginning of teleop. Since we get to place the balls, this will probably be effective.

We should get a team to start planning this out or something...

Thoughts?

Really Depends on where we start.

My Responses on based of the fact that we can choose where we place the balls and where we place our robot.

I think that if we're in the middle/close zones, then it's worth it to shoot a shot for the goal. We can line the bot up with the goal, and then put the ball in front of the robot. When the robot runs the roller and the ball hits the switch inside the cradle, the robot stops, and fires. I don't think the camera is too involved here.

If we're in the far zone, then the primary goal should be to get the ball down the field, and maybe, possibly, cross the bump to the middle. Once again, the robot is all lined up, we just need to go forward, grab 3 consecutive balls and kick them.

Autonomous shouldn't get too complicated.

We'll obviously that switch board to tell us with zone we are in.

Maybe I'm overly simplifying things, but I think that we can definitely take good shots during autonomous.

That's pretty plausible.

Grab three balls? I'd be happy if we kick one. Not sure what you're saying otherwise.

Shouldn't be too complicated, but then again I have to tell the robot how to do things. Its like telling you to kick a ball in 1/9 positions with your eyes closed. Easy, but hard.

But yeah we could use switches to define where we start and possibly where the balls are.
