Some of you all may have already heard of this, but tonight, February 14th, the Jeopardy gameshow consisted of two of the most esteemed players in this shows history. The third contestant was an IBM supercomputer. The results of the game from tonight (Its a three night series) were quite impressive. The supercomputer, referred to as Watson, closed the night with a score of 5,000. Here's where things get intense: One of the human players, Brad Rutter, tied Watson to end the show.

Anyways, I figured that I can't be the only person who is interested in this type of contest, so here's some more information on the challenge, courtesy of IBM.

One of the creators of Watson is a Tech alum and he spoke here at Tech today. I didn't get to see it, but it would have been interesting to go to.

Yeah Tanner, it is really interesting what they are planning on doing with Watson now. The propositions range from medical robot to a new and improved AI system for games.

TPAM is mindblowingly correct.
