'Twas thinking about integrating our three separate systems (User Registration, Communication / Emails, Discussion) in phpBB as it could solve all of them and make life really easy for whomever is the secretary. That is one thing we have above other clubs, we have programmers and we will make life easy.
Anywho, my idea is that when a user is registering there is a checkbox of the sort "Are you a member of the PRHS Robotics team?" that they have to pick. If they say "Yes I am or I wish to" there is a second registration page, where users must fill in all the typical registration info. After that, email is sent to both the student/parent confirming their registration.
Behind the scenes, moderators/administrators could see the member data in a tabular form or just by clicking on the associated forum account. If someone wants to send a email to all of them, that functionality is already in phpBB, plus I've already added a mod to do notifications for posts as well. Another thought would be for Seniors to be automatically moved to the group "Alumni" and for everyone else to be bugged whether or not they wish to continue on the team (as to prevent those annoying "please remove me...etc").
Plus eventually, we'd have data on EVERYONE.
Thoughts? Ideas?
Will it ever be done? I don't know, but its a nice idea for me to pursue at the moment.
